Official Policy on Image Galleries |
This site does not support or endorse scanning
manga images or capturing video stills from the anime for any
reason other than review or educational purposes. In other words,
this website will not ever contain an image gallery with scanned
manga images or screencaps. Future expansion of this website
is not ruled out, but it will not contain these elements. All
artwork on this website was made by myself in 2002-2003 with
the exception of the cel gallery (obviously). See below for
answers to other questions about images. |

ABOUT THE BIG O
HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THE BIG O?
My friends Mike and Prairie told me about this show in the spring
of 2000, after Mike had seen the first episode at Animazement 2000.
Prairie made what is probably America's first R. Dorothy Wayneright
costume in that same year!
WHEN IS THE REST OF THE SERIES GONNA COME
OUT?
The second season can be seen Sunday nights at 11:00PM EST on the
Adult Swim block of the Cartoon
Network.
IS DOROTHY IN LOVE WITH ROGER?
Maybe, maybe not. Mr. Katayama says that their love can never be,
and the relationship between them was specifically designed that
way, to always be a kind of unrequited love type of deal. So there.
WHERE CAN I GET THE BIG O MANGA?
A visit to a retailer such as Sasuga
Japanese Bookstore or Kinokuniya
should do the trick for the original Japanese manga. If you're interested
in a translated version, which you probably are, Viz
publishes the Big O manga in English. Check with your local comic
book retailer and make them order it if they don't carry it!
As a somewhat preachy aside note, PLEASE do not resort to reading
"scanlations" of the manga online. If you can't afford
it, you obviously don't need it. Mr. Ariga himself asks that NO
ONE repost scans of his artwork online without permission. Your
legal degree didn't come with your AOL account... please respect
the creators' wishes.
WHERE CAN I BUY THE BIG O ORIGINAL SOUND
SCORE/SOUNDTRACK?
You can find the Big O soundtrack at a number of places, including
Amazon.com... see my links for details.
Keep your eyes open! DO NOT be fooled into buying a cheapo bootleg;
buying these CDs takes money out of the pockets of decent artists
and will prevent new episodes from being made; look for the dubious
labels of "SM Records (Son May)" or "Ever Anime"
for an example of what a bootleg is.
ABOUT THIS SITE
WHO'S THAT GUY IN THE CAKE PHOTOS?
Christian. He's my boyfriend!
WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR CELS?
Mikichan sells cells, formerly by the seashore. But she doesn't
have any right now, so please don't ask her. You can find cels at
your favorite cel dealer and through auction websites.
WHO MADE THE DOROTHY PUMPKIN?
The Dorothy pumpkin was made by Prairie Rose Clayton, aka my super
bestest gal-pal #1. See more of her cool pumpkins here.
CAN I BUY ONE OF YOUR CELS?
Sure, if you're ready to give me a whole lot of money for any one
of them. Bear in mind that I only collect and currently own cels
of R. Dorothy. Also, I don't have cels of any other characters from
The Big O and am not interested in collecting them right now.
WHO ELSE DO YOU HAVE TO THANK?
Mr. Chiaki J. Konaka responded to my fan-mail this past winter and
encouraged me to make my own R. Dorothy doll (which I'm going to
do one of these days, I tell you!). He's a good correspondent as
well.
Mr. Kazuyoshi Katayama was extremely gracious and personable at
Anime Central 2003 in answering many fans' heated questions about
the show. He was also kind enough to accept my present to him of
a custom-made Roger Smith apron urging all to "Kiss the Negotiator."
He was a good sport and I hope he comes back to the US soon!
Bandai Entertainment licensed this series and distributes cool
and affordable Big O toys here in the US!
Cartoon Network aired the show last spring/summer and paid for
the second season to be made!
WHY AREN'T THERE ANY MANGA SCANS/ANIME
SCREENSHOTS ON THIS SITE?
I purposely left out a scans archive and screenshot gallery on this
site because I don't like them personally and they are also an issue
of questionable legality. Mr. Hitoshi Ariga doesn't want his works
reposted on the internet, and I intend to abide by his wishes. There
are plenty of sites on the web where you can get anime screenshots
from The Big O; they bounce around all over the place. It is this
site's and my own policy to use original fanart for illustrations;
I'm not a review site, and I'm not going to pretend that I have
some sort of advanced legal degree, so I will play it safe by not
posting them at all.
CAN I USE YOUR IMAGES FOR ______?
If you ask me, I would be happy to give you permission, provided
that you're willing to follow a couple of rules:
1. If you're posting them on a website, please give me credit as
the creator of the images/owner of the cels or fanart images.
2. DO NOT use these images for redistribution in wallpapers, webpage
graphic sets, fonts, desktop icons, or anything else.
3. DO NOT claim that you made/own these images, or I'll have to
get lippy with you.
I do not have a lot of time to police the internet for people not
willing to respect these rules, but do trust that you'll do what
I want.
CAN I DOWNLOAD THESE IMAGES AND SAVE
THEM TO MY COMPUTER?
Sure, if all you want to do is look at them or make a wallpaper
for your own personal use, NOT TO REDISTRIBUTE IT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.
See above!
WILL YOU SEND ME MP3S?
Go buy the soundtracks. It's worth it!
